Today our class went to the MOMA.....here are some of my favorite paintings!

Max Ernst Rendezvous of Friends

Joan Miro Self-Portrait....Love the subtle detail hidden within the portrait

Alice Neel--Kenneth Fearing (social realism) I enjoy the composition and the detail of the objects within the composition, instead of distracting the audience, it compliments the painting.

Detail of Echo of a Scream by David Alfaro Siqueiros

Love the detail! and the mixing of colors, absolutely stunning!

detail of Alice Neel Painting

Claude Monet

Marc Chagall I and the Village--BEautiful composition and mixing of colors! I love the repetition of circles and triangles and the overall theme of the painting.

umberto boccioni

James ensor--Tribulations of St. ANthony--From a distant this painting seems very abstract but when you walk up, this painting is filled with detail and interesting components

Francis Bacon__Love the negative space of foreground and background

Week 2 Gallery walk in Chelsea------The first gallery we went to was called the Asya Geisberg Gallery. The exhibition was called Centaurs and Satyrs. Ezra Johnson- Love the interesting composition and the mix between the silhouette and scenic background.

Another Ezra Johnson Piece- Interesting painting, I enjoyed it because its not the typical scenic painting!

Next gallery we went to was called the Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery. This piece is by Harold Ancart, Love the simplicity.

Cameron-Interesting Perspective. A unique and interesting portrait, I believe it is done in ink.

I believe this is done by Jimmie Durham but i could be wrong. I thought this was a very interesting piece and the mix of sculpture and words.

This was my favorite piece from the whole day. ITs done by Natalie Frank. I love how expressive this piece is. I love how there is a lot of movement but some detail, especially in the faces.

Patrick Lundeen--Was inspired by his childhood tv shows. A very exciting and colorful exhibition. Mark Weiss Gallery. Also we talked to the director of the art gallery (Anna) she gave us some advice but the one thing she said that I thought was very important was that, "Your personality is just as important as your art work."

The last gallery we visited was at BravinLee Programs. And it was a teen art gallery (TAG) I absolutely love this self portrait done by Caitlyn Woodhead. I love how she chose an interesting perspective for her portrait, the value of her oil paints. In addition I love how she communicated her mood by using different brushstrokes.

I believe this is by Sonja Tyspin. But I can't believe this is done by a high schooler!!!! I love the composition, the contrast of the vertical and horizontal. ANd just the content of the painting itself. SHe is a very talented artist.

Video Performance done by Emma Depold. A very interactive piece of art. It was about barriers in israel I believe. I though it was a very interesting piece of work that had meaning.

Over the weekend I went to the NEUE GALERIE. It was located on 86th and 5th avenue. I saw the Gustav Klimt exhibit and it was lovely! I loved how he used interesting POV's and hsi use of texture, color and line.

I made several hand cut outs to create this interesting mobile type of thing....unfortunatley it does not photograph well! :)
All of my final 9 pieces together! During the critique my teacher suggested some ideas to make everything more cohesive. Overall I am very happy with the way it turned out

One artist mentioned today was Hans Bellmer, very creative and very innovative. Here is one of my favorite drawings...

Today we had a guest speaker named Michael Schall. His work is mostly done in pencil and it is absolutely wonderful. It's so detailed and so complex! By his artwork you can tell how passionate he is about art. He gave us advice for art school. Somethings that he said really stuck with me...
1. Challenge Yourself
2.Don't overly think (Over thinking diminishes creativity.)
3.Be aware
4. Take time

Dali, really interesting how its more of an optical illusion. This piece was inspired by nuclear physics!

Balthus- Absolutely love the composition! And the angles throughout the painting

Otto Dix- Love how this portrait has so much personality. You can tell what type of person the subject is due to the bone structure
I believe this is by Otto Dix, but I am not positive. I love again how this portrait has so much personality. My favorite part is how she is as tall as the trees!
Picasso- Love the movement throughout the painting.
